American Poilitical Trolls

In the 1960’s it is no surprise that the popularity of trolls in the USA reached even in politics . . . The Democrats vs the Republicans

Vintage 1960’s- DAM American Political trolls;

Royalty Designs of Florida Inc. in Hialeah, Florida was the only officially licensed company to make the DAM Things original trolls in the USA during the mid 1960s. These lighter hard-body troll dolls and animals are often referred to as American made DAM trolls.

Thomas DAM created small political “finger puppets” for the American market. A donkey was designed for the Democrats and an elephant troll was designed for the Republicans. These were given out at political conventions in mid-to-late 1960’s. These political party trolls are 3 inches tall. Most of them had the © DAM Things Establishment 1964 copyright embedded around the finger hole (at the bottom of each puppet) see photo. Also “Design DAM Patent” marked on one foot.

Democratic Donkey

WILD HAIR Creations Political trolls;

Wild Hair Creations (a division of DMA– Design Masters Assoc, Inc), of Toano, Virginia, USA- also came out with their version of a Trump Troll in 2017, as well as a gift set (Trump & Kim Jong-Un) in 2018. This was followed by additional political trolls in 2019- “Wild Hair– Party Animals” and “Wild Hair– Amer-Icons” all designed in the USA and crafted in China.

Wild Hair—Party Animals, not only had their version of the Democratic Donkey and Republican Elephant but they also created an Independent Eagle. Each of these trolls includes the American flag patriotic colors of white, blue or red synthetic hair. These FUN collectible trolls were created as reference to the American political parties. They can show your support of an affiliated party, or they can remind us all that the differences of political opinions and freedom of speech is part of what makes America great.

Or these trolls can just be collected as something that is unique to have. Wild Hair Creations, their iconic American symbols (Uncle Sam, Statue of Liberty & Rosie the Riveter) are also unique sculpts. There were also six monster trolls “Wild Hair– Creatures– Legends & Lore“ made by this company in the year 2018 (Jersey Devil, Yeti, Cthulhu, Sasquatch, Mothman & Chupacabra). Donkey finger puppet on the front left hoof it is marked- DESIGN DAM PATENT.

Elephant finger puppet on the rear right foot it is marked- DESIGN DAM PATENT.

These little finger puppets came in a flesh tone and had a variety of natural Icelandic wool hair colors (mostly white, peach, black or brown).

The larger DAM Donkey (8 3/4”) and DAM Elephant (5 1/2”) can probably be viewed as “political” based trolls too.

Introduced in 2019. I do not see any stamps or markings on the body of this donkey troll. Blue synthetic hair, painted brown eyes, straw like hat with Democrat (donkey) logo on hat. Painted outfit (white shirt, blue tie, red pants with blue trim and blue suspenders). Measures 2 3/4” high to top of hat (hair about 5 inches long, has a hair spray fixative applied). Nice artwork on the box. Original retail cost was $10.00 (USD) these can still be found on the secondary market (ebay).

Wild Hair “Party Animals”– Republican Elephant

Introduced in 2019. I do not see any stamps or markings on the body of this elephant troll. Red synthetic hair, painted black eyes, straw like hat with Republican (elephant) logo on hat. Painted outfit (white shirt, red tie, blue pants with red trim and red suspenders). Measures 3” high to top of hat (hair about 5 inches long, has a hair spray fixative applied). Wild Hair “Party Animals”– Independant Eagle

Introduced in 2019. I do not see any stamps or markings on the body of this eagle troll. White synthetic hair, painted yellow eyes, Red & white striped hat with blue band and white stars on hat band Painted outfit (red one piece with USA on blue logo at front center). Great detailing on the feathers and feet. Measures 2 3/4” high to top of hat (hair about 5 inches long, has a hair spray fixative applied). Nice artwork on the box. Chuck Williams– The Official World’s Greatest Troll Sculpt;

In late 2016, Chuck Williams a former Disney sculptor, started gauging interest in a naked troll-doll version of TRUMP. In Feb 2017, he launched a crowdfunding campaign (thru Kickstarter) raising $211,865.00 USD, before he was shut down temporarily. His 12cm (4.75 in) anatomically correct, Trump troll doll holding a mini cell phone was met with mixed feelings. He had a few pending legal disputes in the early production stages with Dreamworks Trolls, who purchased the copyrights to DamTrolls/Good Luck Trolls from Thomas Dam’s holding company on a Global basis in year 2012.

Mr Williams personally made 50 resin casts, of his original Trump troll sculpt for a few Kickstarter supporters that pledged higher monetary support (~$500 to ~$1,000 USD). The resin trolls were signed by Chuck Williams in gold marker on the back.

The rest of the Trump trolls are made of vinyl and manufactured in China—BOX Info- UPC ₆ 52671 75649₈. Nearly 20,000 Trump trolls have been sold world wide. The original price thru Kickstarter was $25.00 USD each. Painted features on a stationary body with imitation hair, head moves, has slot in right hand for removeable cell phone. Back of head is stamped- © CHUCK W. Bottom of right foot stamped- © Chuck Williams 2017 and bottom of left foot stamped– Made in China. Some of these boxes were signed by him.

The first Trump Trolls started shipping in August 2017. Some of these controversial Trump Trolls can still be found on the secondary market at various prices- between $27.00 to over $100.00 USD on ebay. With trolls signed by Chuck Williams posted at much higher prices ~500.00 (USD) and up.

Wild Hair President Trump

Introduced in year 2017. Very light on the back of left heel marked- © DMA. Golden synthetic hair, painted blue eyes. Fabric painted nylon outfit. Dye used for blue in outfit will stain troll body and nylon ties that hold in box (see photos below). Measures 2 1/2” high to top of hair line (hair about 4 1/2 inches long, has a hair spray fixative applied). Nice artwork on the boxes! There appears to be TWO versions– one comes with a silver plastic comb, front of box bottom says, “buytrumptroll.com” the other version has NO comb and front of box bottom says, “wildhaircreations.com” both versions have the same UPC code.

President Trump & Kim Jong-Un “Defcon-Mania ROCKET Rumble”

In 2018, this special 2 troll set was sold with Trump & Kim Jong-Un troll dolls in commemoration of their talk. Global Trump vs Kim Jong-un—match of the Millennium. "Tweety Boy" Donald Trump and "Rocketman" Kim Jong-Un as Troll dolls dressed in fabric printed Wrestling Unitards. Black dye from Kim Jong-Un’s outfit is staining the body. No stains on Trump troll. Both trolls measure 2 1/2” high to top of hair line (hair about 4 1/2 inches long). On back of left heel (both trolls) marked- © DMA, stamp is more noticeable on Kim Jong-Un. Synthetic hair, painted eyes. Nice artwork on the box. Original retail cost was ~$20.00 (USD). These can still be found on the secondary market (ebay).

2019 Li’l Liberty

Wild Hair “AmerICONS”– Statue of Liberty [Li’l Liberty]

Introduced in 2019. Stamped on back of base- © 2019 DMA. Pale green synthetic hair, painted white/black eyes. Cast in pale green vinyl, with golden flame and beige base.
